The day that we discovered that we were pregnant with you is a day that your daddy and I will remember forever. Some would say you were a "surprise", but for us you were an answer to years of prayer. It was only five months prior to this day, after rounds of testing, that our fertility specialist said that it would take extensive fertility treatments to get pregnant. Even with the treatments, there was no guarantee that any of his methods would work. Frustrated and saddened, we decided that we would not continue with this doctor. It was at this time that we really learned to trust God and hand over the desires of heart completely to Him. We really and truly believed that if it were God's will for us to be parents, that it would happen in His time. We prayed for you everyday. There were days when we completely lost faith and felt you would never come to us. Thank goodness that the Lord had other plans.
It was two days after Christmas that we learned that you had taken up residence in my belly. We had to take six home pregnancy tests just to be sure. We were elated! Our doctor's office was closed for Christmas, so we had to go to a walk-in clinic for a blood test. Three days later that test came back to confirm that we were going to be parents. You made our Christmas! You were the best present!
Because we were bursting with excitement we called your grandparents in Florida to share the news. There were some happy tears and hollers, all exclaiming how happy everyone was. We didn't tell your grandparents in South Carolina until we arrived for New Year's. Rock, our Pit Bull pup, delivered the news. He wore a t-shirt that said, "I am going to be a big brother!" We thought this would be a creative way to share our very exciting news.
Our lives forever changed that Tuesday, December 27th. We had been given the best gift; the gift of a family. We can't wait to meet you and share this story in person.
